MANUFACTURE OF POLYISOBUTENE

摘要

Polyisobutenes having a mean degree of polymerisation P of 10-100 and a content E of double bonds which can be reacted with maleic anhydride of from 60 to 100%, where E = 100% corresponds to the calculated theoretical value for the case where each molecule of the polyisobutene contains one such double bond, can be prepared by polymerising isobutene with from 1 to 20 mmol of boron trifluoride per mol of isobutene at from -50 to + 80 DEG C with the mean polymerisation duration limited to from 1 to 40 seconds, and can be used for the production of mineral oil additives.
