PURPOSE:To permit a simplified and safe non-oxidative heat treatment of metals by the procedure in which, when a metal material is heated without oxidation, an organic solution of alcohol, etc., is passed through a heating furnace and mixed with an inert gas as the atmosphere of the furnace. CONSTITUTION:The metal material 8 to be treated by heating is placed in the enclosed type tubular furnace 9 provided with a heater, and then a reductive gas is introduced into the furnace from the pipe 5 while heating the metal material and then discharged from the exhaust port 7. In this case, the inert gas 1, e.g., nitrogen gas, etc., is passed through the organic solution 4, e.g., alcohol, kerosine, liquid paraffin, etc., in the container 2, and then the inert gas containing the organic solution vapor as a reductive gas is introduced into the furnace 9. The reductive gas serves to prevent the oxidation of the metal material 8 by reacting with the organic solution vapor contained even if oxygen is present in the reductive atmosphere without danger of explosion. Thus, the non-oxidative heat treatment of metals is made possible with simplified apparatus and without danger of explosion. |
