PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic transmission in which an oil pressure is not supplied to a friction element for a rearward travel range in a period from an occurrence of a failure of an inhibitor switch to a determination of the failure.SOLUTION: In the case of no detection of a range signal from a range position detection part after a forward travel range is detected from a range signal coming from the range position detection part in a vehicle speed equal to or more than a predetermined vehicle speed, when an oil pressure detection part detects that an oil pressure supplied to a second friction element decreases, the oil pressure detection part carries out a second control in which an oil pressure is supplied to the second friction element via a second oil pressure control valve and an oil pressure supply to a third friction element via the second oil pressure control valve is prohibited, thereby carrying out a control so that the third friction element has no transmission torque.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
