NH3, CO2 and H2O gas mixts. which were byproducts of several chem. processes were sepd. in a 2-stage process in which only H2O was added. An NH3-rich mixt. was 1st treated in an NH3 rectification column to drive off NH3 which was condensed and gas from the condenser was washed with H2O which was returned to the top of the rectification column. The sump liq. from the latter column, contg. CO2 and NH3 was fed to a CO2 rectification column where it was terated with addnl. H2O to spe. CO2 and inert gases; the sump liq. from the CO2 rectification column was fed to a desorption vessel and back to the NH3 rectification column.
