PURPOSE:To prepare acrolein, in high yield, by the catalytic gas-phase oxidation of propylene with O2, at high temperature, using a catalyst having high mechanical strength and obtained by adding V and/or Pd to a catalyst system composed of Mo-Bi-Fe-Co doped with Cs. CONSTITUTION:In the high-temperature catalystic gas-phase reaction of propylene with O2 to obtain acrolein, the reaction is carried out in the presence of a catalyst of the formula (X is V and/or Pd; Y is Ti, Sn, or Zr; when a=12, then b=2-12, c=0.5-7, d=0.1-5, e=0.0005-0.5, f=0.01-2, g=0-5, and h is determined by the values of a to g), for example, a composition wherein Mo:Bi:Co:Fe:Cs:V= 12:1:8:2:0.005:0.1. EFFECT:The catalyst has high abrasion resistance and crush strength. The reaction can be continued for a long period, safely, economically, in an industrial scale. |
