PURPOSE:To increase the durability of the gas detecting element without lowering the gas detecting capacity, by baking the frit to the ceramic coated layer which covers over the exhaust gas side electrode provided to the solid state electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:The platinum or the like is baked on both the outer and inner surfaces of zirconia porcelain 1 of a crucible shape to form porous electrodes 2 and 3. Furthermore, zirconia, alumina or the like is melt-sprayed on electrode 3 of the exhaust gas side, and then ceramic coated layer 4 is provided. Thus a gas detecting element is formed. In such constitution, glass frit 5 (or the ink obtained by compounding alumina, palladium, etc. to glass frit) having a low melting point is applied and then baked on layer 4. |
