In order to obtain a structure which is sufficiently compact to be held with a single hand, and thus without requiring the use of an additional handle, the motor cooling fan (24) is disposed adjacent to the drive cam (25) of the oscillating plate (33) which supports the abrasive material, whereas the motor body (11) is closed by means of a cover (12) which is larger than the body itself, such as to provide an annular undercut (28), in which the fingers of one hand can get a grip. <IMAGE>
