<p>In a pump equipped with a cylinder jacket inside which a piston is housed, as well as a keeper around the piston and a friction or wear ring around the body of the piston in order to align the piston with the cylinder jacket [sic]. An elastomeric closure ring remains in closure and sliding contact with said jacket of the cylinder. A means or device for filling gaps, with minimal axial displacement and controlled radial displacement, abuts against the rear surface of the keeper and maintains a continuous contact with the cylinder, thereby continuously closing the extrusion gap located between said gap-filling device and the cylinder as the latter wears. The friction or wear ring has a series of angled grooves arranged longitudinally in it. The abrasive particles are directed towards the inside of the grooves in the friction ring at the same time as a liquid is passed to the body of the piston via channels for water in the gap-filling device and via flow paths of the friction ring, in order to create a turbulent action which washes the wall of the cylinder. The friction ring ensures that there is no intermetallic contact between the piston and the cylinder, and provides a constant gap between the piston and the cylinder. A thin keeper improves the temperature gradient in the actual keeper, controls the displacement of the keeper, reduces the axial load on the actual keeper and allows rear dismantling of it without dismantling the piston of the cylinder.</p> |
