PURPOSE:To manufacture acoustic vibration material coated with boron having high elasticity and high strength, by treating the surface of a metal, having high bonding strength to hydrogen, with a substance which has high bonding strength to boron and which has been deposited by chemical vapor deposition, to form boron coating by chemical vapor deposition, and by performing dehydrogenation. CONSTITUTION:Ti, Ta, Zr etc. especially Ti having high bonding strength to hydrogen is treated with amorphous boron powder to form titanium boride layer on the surface. The titanium having been treated with boron is connected to an electrode sealed with mercury and is brought into contact with a mixed gas of boron chloride and hydrogen, then it is heated to about 800-1,200 deg.C temp., hereby amorphous boron coating is formed. Dehydrogenation of the coating under reduced pressure not higher than about 10<-5> Torr, at about 700-850 deg.C temp. allows to form desired boron-coated material. |
