The exhaust cleanser is for fitting to the outlet end of conventional systems. It comprises an inlet pipe with a right-angle bend, distributing the gas, with the aid of guide-vanes, evenly backwards into a wire mesh matrix inside a casing open at the back. The mesh in the back half of the matrix is tighter than that in the front, but there are no other restrictions. The casing's front end embodies an inlet for cooling air driven by the wind-of-passage. To improve particle adhesion, the mesh is bitumen-coated.
