PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric parking brake system that can inhibit a vehicle from slipping down at hill start by appropriately changing release time of an electric parking brake.SOLUTION: An electric parking brake system comprises: an electric parking brake for applying breaking force to a vehicle; an ECU for controlling an operation of the electric parking brake; a PKB operation switch for switching between an operating state and a release state of the electric parking brake; a shift sensor for detecting a shift range of the vehicle; and an accelerator pedal sensor for detecting an operation of an accelerator pedal of the vehicle. In switching the electric parking brake from the operating state to the release state by the PKB operation switch, compared to the case where the shift range is located at a position enabling driving of the vehicle and where the operation of the accelerator pedal is detected within a predetermined time, in other cases, the ECU elongates release time from the switching of the operation switch to the release of the electric parking brake. |
