The transfer station is intended for coupling a first continues conveyor (1), such as a chain conveyor, to a second continuous conveyor (17), e.g. a belt conveyor, such as may be used in mining operations. The ends of the two conveyors overlap and are interconnected. The end of the first conveyor is carried in a forwardly projecting outrigger (4) whose rearward end is rigidly connected (via 5) to the support base (2) (with skids 3) of that conveyor. The start of the second conveyor is coupled to this outrigger and has no bottom support. The outrigger (4; 8,10,9,14) may be formed as a fabricated box section containing the end of the first conveyor.
