<p>The individual knitwear articles 1 are knitted together by knitting technology at their non-regular, that is to say non-fastened edges, in any lateral-edged shaping for necessary further processing or further treatment, such as, for example, steaming or other finishing. A connecting knit piece 2 of a negative shape corresponding to the lateral-edge shape of the individual knitwear article (1) is knitted in each case to one or both lateral edges of the individual article by means of a further yarn guide. There is also the possibility of knitting in each case to one or both sides of an individual knitwear article 1' with a further yarn guide a connecting knit piece 3 which is preferably only a few wales wide and which has a negative shape corresponding to the lateral-edge shape of the individual knitwear article, an auxiliary knit piece 2' being knitted to this connecting knit piece by means of a further independent yarn guide. Such knitwear articles can be made on appropriate machines with one or two needle beds, in which the individual knitwear articles are each knitted in any type of knit with an independent yarn guide. An additional yarn guide knits to the laterally non-fastened individual knitwear article an auxiliary knit piece of a negative shape corresponding to the lateral-edge shape of the individual knitwear article, thereby marking out the contour of the individual knitwear article.
