PURPOSE:To reduce the number of vertical shift registers, by arranging picture elements in both sides of vertical shift registers and by transferring signal electric charge from these picture element rows on one horizontal scanning by vertical shift registers. CONSTITUTION:In the even field period, signal electric charge based on light information is transferred from picture elements 2a and 2a' on even horizontal scanning line 6a to transfer electrode phi1 of vertical shift register 7 by opening shift electrode phiSH<e> (not shown in the figure). Signal electric charge 2a and 2a' of picture elements transferred through vertical shift register 7 are transferred to the horizontal shift register simultaneously by lowest charge transfer register 9 of vertical shift register 7. In the odd field, signal electric charge is transferred from picture elements 2b and 2b' on odd horizontal scanning line 6b to a transfer electrode phi2 of vertical shift register 7 by opening shift electrode phiSH<o> (not shown in the figure). |
