<p>PURPOSE:To obtain the ornamental plywood having depth and excellent surface condition by a method wherein unsaturated polyester resin composition is applied on the surface of a woody single plate bonded to a base material and after being set in half once it is subjected to hot press. CONSTITUTION:After the woody single plate is bonded to the base material, the surface of the single plate is coated with unsaturated polyester resin composition and the plate is introduced into a process wherein it is once set in half. Next, it is set finally by the hot press. The unsaturate polyester resin composition employed is prepared by adding a polymeric catalyst to liquefied resin composed of unsaturated polyester resin and of polymeric monomer which is capable of being copolymerized with the above resin and is liquefied at the normal temperature. The condition under which half setting is achieved varies according to the activation temperature and reaction time of the catalyst employed, and as a practical condition, it is preferable that gelling time continues for more than about an hour at the temperature below the boiling point of the main volatile constituent in the unsaturated polyester resin composition.</p> |
