The safety circuit is for an electrical medical instrument and provides protection against incorrect operation. The connected instrument can only be activated when the necessary operating measures have been taken based on criteria relevant to safety. The control panel of the instrument (18) is fitted with a logic circuit (20). The logic circuit prevents the instrument from being activated when the mains (1) is switched on. It also prevents a built-in therapy clock (29) from functioning until all the test questions have been actuated. The pushbutton actuator elements operate signal lamps (5,6,7) which come on if the necessary criteria are fulfilled. The switching conditions of the pushbuttons are stored in a logic circuit until the instrument is switched off or until a mains cut-out exceeds a given time interval.
