PURPOSE:An ion-exchanger, which is deteriorated by use in heavy-water reactors or so for a long time, is heated to take out the occluded hydrogen isotopes from the system in the form of water, thus recovering hydrogen isotopes efficiently in low costs. CONSTITUTION:A deteriorated ion-exchanger 8 in which hydrogen isotopes such as deuterium or tritium are occluded in the form of water or ion is placed in a drying column 1 and a circulating gas, which is taken in from a pipe 9, heated with a heater 4 to a prescribed temperature and sent with a circulator 3, is introduced into the drying column 1 to evaporate off the steam of the hydrogen isotopes from the ion-exchanger 8. Then, the circulating gas is introduced in a cooler 2 where the steam accompanying the gas is separated as water, which is sent to the tank 6, thus recovering the hydrogen isotopes. Meanwhile, a part of gas is sent through a condenser 5 and the gas treating system 7 and exhausted outside and the circulating gas is returned to the inlet of the circulator 3. |
