PURPOSE:To perform operation efficiently and safely by providing a reader, which reads an original to obtain an electric signal through conversion and then reproduces its picture, with an opening closing mechanism which opens and closes, and holds a read part on an original table automatically and accurately. CONSTITUTION:The surface facing to original table 6 of the housing of original read part 1 has a window, over which transparent plate 1' is expanded. Further, guide rail 10 of lighting device unit 5 is utilized as the shaft of the housing and to enable the read part to open from and close over original table 6. When the button of the operation part is pushed with an original set on original table 6, reversible motor 47 rotates normally in direction (a) in response to a signal from the control part and its turning force is transmitted to friction clutch 34 to rotate friction clutch 35 normally in direction (a) on the whole. Therefore, read part 1 rotates on rail 10 as a supporting shaft against spring 28 via lever 33 and stay 25 to close the read part, and self-lock mechanism 53 applies read part 1 with the closure-directional torque to hold read part 1 closed. |
