PURPOSE:To obtain a heat-sensitive recording material which is capable of being developed in an aqueous liquid, excellent in resistance to oils and chemicals and is capable of producing an image with a high film strength and at a high sensitivity, by providing a heat-sensitive layer incorporating an ionomer resin. CONSTITUTION:An ionomer resin prepared by cross-linking a copolymer of an about 2-10C alpha-olefin and an about 3-8C alpha,beta-unsaturated carboxylic acid by using metallic ions having a valence of 1-3, preferably a resin prepared by cross- linking a copolymer of ethylene and (meth)acrylic acid by using Na<+>, Mg<++>, or Zn<+++> ions and having a particle size of about 0.01-50mu is used. Namely, an aqueous dispersion of the ionomer resin, a hydrophilic binder (e.g., polyvinyl alcohol having a saponification degree of about 85-90%) and coloring matter (e.g., carbon black) are mixed with each other, and the resulting dispersion is coated on a substrate (in a thickness of about 1-50mu) and is dried at about 30-50 deg.C to obtain the recording material. |
