Embodiments of the present invention are directed to methods for treatment of melanoma using specific inhibitors of dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH), i.e. selected form C19H14F2N2O3; C18H13F6NO4; C19H16F3NO4; C19H10F5NO4S; C19H14FNO4S; C20H15F4NO4; C19H17NO4; C20H17F2NO4; and C20H18FNO4, and to combination therapies that involve administering to a subject these inhibitors, together with an inhibitor of oncogenic BRAF (e.g. BRAF(V600E)).
