NEW MATERIAL:p-Benzyloxy-alpha-(beta-benzylglutar imino-propiophenone expressed by formula I. USE:An intermediate for 1-( p-hydroxyphenyl )-2-(4-benzylpiperidino)-propan-1-ol of formula II which is a medicine for the circulatory organs used for improving the dizziness, etc. caused by the sequelae of the cerebral infarct and hemorrhange. The whole reactions become very mill through the intermediate, and the yield is high. The compound of formula II can be obtained in high yield with little side reactions. PROCESS:A p-benzyloxy-alpha-halopropiophenone of formula III (X is halogen) is reacted with a beta-benzylglutarimide of formula IV in the presence of a base to give the compound of formula I. The resultant compound is then reduced with a reducing agent to afford a compound of formula V. The resultant compound is then reduced with a reducing agent to afford a compound of formula V, which is debenzylated to give the compound of formula II. |
