<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a hydrogen absorbent with characteristics required as an absorbent for a heat pump system by blending a misch metal-Ni-Al alloy with a small amount of an La-Ni alloy. CONSTITUTION:This hydrogen absorbent consists of 60-99mol% mich metal-Ni- Al alloy having an atomic ratio composition represented by formula I (where 0<=x<=0.6) and of 40-1mol% La-Ni alloy represented by formula II (where 4.9<=y<=5.5). The absorbent is prepared by mixing both the alloys in the form of powder. When the LaNiy content is <1mol%, the quantity of heat absorbed and generated per unit wt. is not well improved, and >40mol% LaNiy improves the reaction rate insufficiently.</p> |
