<p>PURPOSE:To achieve error-free retrying operation by confirming a correct interblock gap (BG) when an error is detected after information is recorded on a magnetic tape, and then by regarding it as the starting point of the retrying operation. CONSTITUTION:Once an error signal is received, a retry instruction is sent out and reels 271 and 272 and a capstan 28 are stopped and reversed throgh a drive control part 25 and a driving circuit 26; and a readout signal from a head 13 is demodulated 18 and block detection 20 of it is performed to count 22 IBGs with capstan pulses. Then, the length of the IBGs is checked by a checking circuit 23 and when it is normal, a signal is sent to a run indicating circuit 24 to stop a tape at a point in the IBG exceeding a data block, thereby supplying a control part 25 with a run indication signal for a forward run. If the length is abnormal, an IBG exceeding the data block is run and a check on the length of the IBG is repeated.</p> |
