A polyurethane compound, particularly for use in water-blocking telecommunications cables, and formed from a mixture of hydroxy-terminated polybutadiene, an additional diol serving as a chain extend an isocyanate and water in the respective proportions (by weight) 100,0 to 20,5 to 50 and 0 to 2. The compound can be used both for solid filling and discrete blocking.
