<p>The elongate lorry chassis (2) has the dump box (1) pivotally secured at the rear end, with a pair of hydraulic telescopic rams (5) pivotally fixed by hinges (9,10) to the chassis and by further hinges (12,13) at their top ends to the dump box. The rams upwardly converge, defining an inverted V-shape when viewed longitudinally of the dump box. The hinges are provided by pivot pins. The front section (8) of the chassis can be widened to provide a more secure anchorage for the rams. The rams can cross each other intermediate their lengths to define an X-shape when viewed longitudinally. The configuration of the rams avoids the box twisting during tipping if the vehicle is used on uneven ground or on an incline, when the centre of gravity is raised.</p> |
