PURPOSE:To obtain an electrophotographic receptor easy in manufacture and superior in strength by forming a photosensitive layer containing a specified azo pigment as a charge generating substance and a specified hydrazone compound as a charge transfer substance on a conductive substrate. CONSTITUTION:A photosensitive layer formed on a conductive substrate contains as a charge generating substance an azo pigment represented by the formulaeI, III, IV, V, VI, etc. in which A is the formula II, etc. (X is benzene, naphthalene, indole, carbazone, or benzofuran ring, or any one or these substituted compounds; Ar1 is benzene, naphthalene, or heterocyclic ring or any one of these substituted compounds, and R1 is H, or optionally substituted alkyl or phenyl); and R is H or optionally substituted alkyl, and as a charge transfer substance a hydrazone compound represented by the formula VII in which R1 is methyl, ethyl, 2-hydroxyethyl, or 2-chloroethyl; R2 is methyl, ethyl, benzyl, or phenyl; and R3 is H, Cl, Br, C1-4 alkoxy, dialkylamino, or nitro. |
