PURPOSE:To make installations compact and obtain a treated material having no irregularities in quality by winding a steel wire rod plural times on a rotary drum immersed in a heated salt bath, then drawing it out followed by cooling and coiling. CONSTITUTION:A wire rod 2 is introduced from a swift 1 into a heat treatment furnace 4 via a guide roller 3. In the furnace 4, inorg. salt is packed to form a salt bath 6, and is melted by heaters 5. The wire rod 2 introduced into the salt bath 6 is wound spirally plural times in a strand type on the circumferential wall of a rotary drum 7, whereby it is immersed in the bath and is heat treated. The rotary drum is rotated by a driver 8 via pinion gears 9, 10, and an inner gear 11. The wire rod 2 is heat treated to about 650-900 deg.C, and is drawn to the outside of the salt bath 6 by a guide roller 12. The wire rod 2 is air cooled and is introduced into a water tank 13, where it is immersed into water by a guide rooler 14, whereby it is cleaned of stuck components, thence it is coiled with a coiler 15. |
