POLYURETHANE RESIN AND WATER-BASED COMPOSITION CONTAINING SAID POLYURETHANE RESIN

PURPOSE:To prepare the titled resin dispersible in an aqueous medium by the salt-formation with an alkaline substance, and highly adhesive even to a non- absorbent hydrophobic surface, by reacting a specific polyol compound with an organic polyisocyanate compound. CONSTITUTION:A polyurethane resin obtained by the reaction of (A) polyol compounds consisting of (i) 50-80(wt)% diol compound prepared by the esterification of a rosin with a trihydric alcohol such as trimethylolpropane, (ii) 20- 50% polyol compound having carboxyl group, e.g. a half-esterified product derived from trimethololpropane and phthalic anhydride, and (iii) 0-30% other polyol compounds, with (B) an orgaic polyisocyanate at an equivalent ratio (OH/NCO) of (0.8-1.5)/1, and dispersible in an aqueous medium by the salt- formation with (C) an alkaline substance.
