PURPOSE:To improve the recognition factor of a pattern, by adding a rotating means for input video information of the characters to be recognized to a character recognizer and accordingly carrying out also the collation of a rotary pattern along with the collation of a feature pattern when the collation is carried out for a dictionary pattern. CONSTITUTION:The size of an input character is shaped when necessary by a preprocessing circuit 1 and stored in a video memory 2. A rotating means 9 for video information is connected to the memory 2, and X and Y counters 6 and 7 plus an address conversion table 8 are provided to the means 9. An address is supplied to the memory 2 to give the rotation to the video information by the reading timing signal and the rotational angle indication signal. The feature pattern of the video information is extracted by a feature extracting circuit 3, and at the same time a rotating feature pattern is extracted to be collated with a dictionary pattern given from a dictionary memory 4 through a collating circuit 5. Thus the recognition factor is increased for the input character. |
