PURPOSE:To prevent the increase in electric current consumption and the increase in gap value on account of elution of adhesives into a liquid crystal by using a small amt. of a photosetting type adhesive for the part of the sealing hole of a liquid crystal display element to be in direct contact with the liquid crystal and sealing the outer side thereof by means of a thermosetting type adhesive. CONSTITUTION:After substrates 1, 2 are sealed by using a sealing material 3, a liquid crystal 5 is injected therein at room temp. through a liquid crystal sealing hole 4. Thereafter, first an UV curing adhesive (polybutadiene acrylate type or the like) 6a is coated in the hole part 4 and is left standing at temp. slightly lower than room temp. to allow the adhesive 6 to enter the inside of the hole 4, after which UV rays are irradiated at the low temp. to set the adhesive. Next, a thermosetting adhesive 6b contg. a liquid epoxy resin and a hardener is coated on the element end face in such a way as to cover the adhesive 6a, and is set by heating. Thus, the adhesive 6a does not absorb the liquid crystal 5 or dissolve in the liquid crystal and the adhesive 6b is strong in adhesive power; hence, the reliability and durability are improved without causing the fluctuation in the liquid crystal thickness (gap) and the increase in electric current consumption. |
