The reed teeth (1) for the weaving reed of jet-weaving machines are equipped at their front reed-tooth edge with a recess (9) for the guidance and looping of the weft yarn. The part of the recess (9) provided for the looping of the weft yarn is offset in the direction of the rear reed-tooth edge, and the latter has a projection (10) in the region of the recess. Consequently, in the rear position of the slay (4), the weaving reed and especially its upper holding strip (3) is located nearer the fabric-looping edge (7), so that the heald frames (6) can be arranged nearer the fabric-looping edge (7). This results in a reduction in the heald-frame stroke and allows an increase in the rotational speed of the weaving machine. <IMAGE>
