<p>A wheel has hub, rim and pairs of spokes, the two spokes of each pair crossing each other in a circumferential direction and being integrally moulded at the crossing point, extending with opposite inclination to a radius to provide circumferential rigidity. Alternate pairs are oppositely axially inclined, and extend from alternate sides of the hub each to the opposite side of the rim. Adjacent pairs are offset circumferentially so that they do not cross or overlap. The plastics is pref. polyamide and is reinforced with glass fibre for light vehicles or carbon fibre for car wheels, the fibre content being 30 wt.%. The rim is pref. shaped to receive a conventional pneumatic tyre and the hub is tubular with fixing bolt holes through a web perpendicular to the wheel axis.</p> |
