Vent Valve for Engine Cooling System A check valve comprises a housing having an inlet and an outlet and first and second ramp surfaces are defined in the housing at varying acute angles relative to a longitudinal axis of the valve. A valve element is mounted in the housing for sequential movement along the ramp surfaces to close the outlet in response to fluid flow through the valve. The check valve finds particular application for use as a vent valve in a cooling system for an internal combustion engine to avoid the overcooling problem which is prevalent with conventional cooling systems wherein a continuously open port is employed in association with a thermostat for air-purging purposes.
