PURPOSE:To improve accuracy and the result of a caulking portion by inserting a spacer having a cylindrical portion of a fixed height into an opening of an article and pressing same by a punch to be caulked to the surface of a plate piece after the leading end of the cylindrical portion is cut and bent outwardly. CONSTITUTION:A flange portion 40, a cylindrical portion 42 having an outside diameter (d) and a ceiling portion 44 are formed by deep drawing of an assigned metallic plate. The ceiling portion 44 is drawn out by circular piercing means to form a spacer 46. The spacer 46 is inserted into an opening 50 of a plate piece 48, and the cylindrical portion 42 of the spacer 46 is cut and bent outwardly by a punch 54 with an edge 52, with a portion of plate thickness T undone. A cut and bent portion 58 is pressed by another punch 56 to caulk the spacer 46 to the surface of the plate piece 48. Thus, dimension accuracy of the caulking portion is heighten and the result of manufactured article is good to improve the value of the article as comodities. |
