PURPOSE:To expand and contract a segment surely, by providing gaps between the segment and slopes of wedges at both ends out of plural wedges which are provided continuously in the axial direction of a mandrel to constitute a wedge shaft. CONSTITUTION:Since projections 8 of a wedge shaft 3 are fitted to grooves 9 in a segment 2, the shaft 3 is held in the segment 2 even if a mandrel shaft 1 is rotated. Gaps are formed between slopes 10 of wedges at both ends and slopes 11 in the segment. Conseuqently, even if the segment 2 is warped in the direction of the shaft 1 by the heat of a hot steel band 12 when the hot steel band 12 is wounded, an immoderate force does not act upon the shaft 3 because of the effect of gaps, and the steel band 12 is supported by the whole of the shaft 3. That is, such proper coupling relation between the segment 1 and the shaft 3 is always held that the winding-up body is expanded and contracted smoothly. |
