The device is intended to sealingly cover the expansion joint of a roadway. The expansion joint is subdivided by means of a plurality of parallel and longitudinal profiles (10 to 12), into narrow slots which are each sealingly plugged by flexible bounds fixed to the profiles. Each section bears on its own cross bar (20 to 22) integral therewith, whereas the other profiles cross the cross bar with a play. A control is arranged in the expansion joint under the cross bars so that the expansion joint is evenly subdivided by the sections into partial slots during the expansion or contraction thereof. The control comprises a direction bar (40) traversing obliquely the joint. One of its ends is held pivotingly by means of a connection sleeve (41') about one shaft (50) fixed to the wall (W1) of the joint. The other end of the bar pivots in the same way but may slide in a sleeve (41'') fixed on the opposite wall (W2). Sleeves (41) which may slide on the bar (40) are each fixed on a cross bar (20 to 22) by a vertical pivot (23 to 25). The control thus obtained is mounted without any play thus avoiding shake noises during the passage of wheels on the expansion joint and compensates for the sagging and displacements of constituent elements without wedging. |
