METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MANUFACTURE OF PRODUCT WITH CONSTANT RADIUS OF CURVATURE FROM SPRING MATERIAL

PURPOSE:To manufacture a spring product having a circular arc profile with a specified radius of curvature efficiently, by giving plastic deformation curved externally to both side ridges of a spring material carried under a specified tension and cutting of a product from the spring material so that the lengthwise center line of the product has a slope to the carrying direction of the spring material. CONSTITUTION:A spring material 1 drawn out of a coil 3 with a feeder 13 passes through a brake stand 4 to give a tension to the spring material 1. The spring 1 is bent under this tension and passes through the surface of up and low bending rollers 8 and 9 of a bending roller stand 7 to produce plastic deformation so that both side ridges are curved externally. Thus, in releasing the spring material 1 from the tension, it shows curl as a whole. The spring 1 in this state is cut off to the profile of a product 30 with a press 10. In this case, the product is cut off so that the lengthwise center line X-X of the product 30 has a slope to the carrying direction of the spring material 1.
