The connection of multi-way ribbon cable (404) to a printed circuit board (401) is either by direct contact with the printed circuit tracks or with insulation-stripping teeth connected to the tracks. A rod (101), made of a resilient material, e.g. a silicone elastomer, is clamped down onto the ribbon cable by a steel spring-clip (102). The rod is located by two pairs of pins (403) separated by a distance equal to the width of the cable. The pitch of the wires is the same as that separating the circuit board tracks. The pinching force of the clip is sufficient to hold the rod hard against the outer side of the cable and to maintain a constant positive pressure on the connecting surfaces. A tool which hooks behind the clips of the clip is used to force the jaws apart when the assembly is dismantled.
|
