PURPOSE:To obtain a printer of a comparatively small size, even in case of greatly increased numbers of printing wires, by providing a specifically selective printing means by which a printing means to perform printing by impact is selectively connected with a drive means to reciprocally move the printing means. CONSTITUTION:A drive means is made up of a solenoid 10, a coil 11, a mobile iron core 12, a plate spring 13, a connecting bar 17 and an adsorption yoke 14. The adsorption yoke 14 is moved to a platen 8 by supplying electric current to the coil 11 and alo restored by the plate spring 13 upon stopping the supply of electric current. The printing means is consisted of a wire 19 and a mobile yoke 15a, and a selective printing means is consisted of the fixed yoke 15b of an auxiliary magnetic path having a permanent magnet 18 in its middle and a coil 20 to generate magnetic flux for the fixed yoke 15b. When the adsorption yoke 14 moves in the direction of a plunger 8, the wire 19 belonging to an unit to supply no current to the coil 20 moves to perform dot printing, whereas the wire belonging to an unit to supply current to the coil 20 does not move and does not participate in printing. |
