PURPOSE:To obtain a phenolic novel cyan dye-forming coupler good in spectral adsorption characteristics of the formed dye, high in resistance to light, heat, humidity, etc., good in color developability, sufficient in color developing sensitivity and density, small in loss of the dye even in an exhausted bleaching bath, and kept high in color developability even when benzyl alcohol is not used for a color developing soln. CONSTITUTION:A number of required characteristics are satisfied by using a phenolic cyan coupler having general formulaeIand II, and a thioureido group at the second or fifth position, H or a group releasable upon coupling with the oxidized product of a color developing agent at the fourth position, and a ballasting group at the fifth position when it has a thioureido group at the second position, and the ballasting group at the second position when the thioureido group at the fifth position. |
