PURPOSE:To read out data at a slice level or below and to eliminate read error, by increasing the reading speed of a magnetic head and improving an output level of data to be recorded with magnetic stripes. CONSTITUTION:An output signal from a magnetic head 3 is amplified at an amplifier 4, and a noise at a predetermined slice level or below is erased at a demodulation circuit 5', the signal is demodulated, this demodulated output is discriminated at a logical circuit 6' and data recorded on a magnetic tape 2 are read. When a read error is detected at the logical circuit 6', the logical circuit 6' transmits a control signal to a magnetic head running section 7. Through this control signal, the section 7 changes over the running speed so as to be doubled. Although the read signal level can be doubled when the running speed is doubled, since the noise level can not be changed, the noise can be eliminated. |
