PURPOSE:To transmit voice information and character information together by storing encoded character information in the low-order digit bits of the voice code part of an information signal, and storing notice information on the character information in the control part for transmission. CONSTITUTION:An information signal consists of a synchronizing code part SCa, a control part CDa, voice code parts L1-L3, and R1-R3, error correction code parts P1 and P2, and an error detection code part CRCa in time series. The low- order two-digit bits of the code parts L1-L3, and R1-R3 are used as character code parts X1-X6 wherein encoded character information on a character, graph, etc., is stored. Further, when the character information is stored in the code parts X1-X6, a notice signal is stored in a free part of a control code part CDb provided to the control code part CDa. Therefore, the voice information and character information are transmitted together without changing signal formats of the information signal used for the conventional transmission of the voice information. |
