PURPOSE:To obtain a filler of high capacity, which is excellent in heat resistance, chemical resistance and strength and has a large specific surface area, by preparing a filler for gas chromatography from titanic acid (titanium dioxide hydrate) formed into very small grains. CONSTITUTION:The powder of TiO2.nH2O obtained by the hydrolysis of titanyl sulfate, Ti[OCH(CH3)2]4, TiCl4 or the like is granulated and then baked into grains. These grains are sieved to be used as a filler, or crushed and sieved further to have sizes of 10-1,000mu for employment, or mixed with Al2O3 or SiO2 and granulated to be used as a filler having a strength thus increased. Or further, the OH group of the titanic acid is changed to an NH2 group, COOH, a benzyl alcohol group or the like, and thereby another filler is prepared. Thus, a filler for gas chromatography, being excellent in heat resistance, chemical resistance, etc. and having high capacity for separation, can be obtained. |
