<p>PURPOSE:To enhance the utilization ratio of available alkali without reducing the removal effect of sulfuryl fluoride, by reacting sulfuryl fluoride with an aqueous solution of alkali metal hydroxide or carbonate on an activated carbon catalyst. CONSTITUTION:An SO2F2 containing exhaust gas 3 is introduced into a washing stage 1 and countercurrently contacted with a recirculated washing liquid 5 such as an NaOH solution in an activated carbon packed part 4. The exhaust gas is further sent to a washing stage 2 from a pipe 7 and washed with a fresh washing liquid from an inlet 9 in the activated carbon packed part 4. The purified exhaust gas 8 from which SO2F2 is removed is discharged. The liquid used in the washing stage 2 is recirculated to the washing stage 2 through a storage vessel 10 and the used liquid is withdrawn from an outlet 11.</p> |
