PURPOSE:To prevent the abrasion of work rolls by pressing rolls softer than the work rolls on which hard foreign matter such as alumina is stuck to said work rolls to transfer and stick said hard foreign matter thereon and performing rolling while removing the foreign matter. CONSTITUTION:Before work rolls 1 contact with backup rolls 2 or intermediate rolls 7 after rolling of a rolled material 6, rolls 3 for removal of foreign matter which are softer than the rolls 1 are brought into contact with the rolls 1. The hard foreign matter such as alumina stuck to the rolls 1 is transferred and stuck to the rolls 3 by said contact. The hard foreign matter stuck to the rolls 3 is removed from the rolls 3 by plates 4 for removing foreign matter and the removed matter is collected in a foreign matter correcting box 5. As a result, the abrasion of the work rolls is prevented, the rolling capacity per set of work rolls is increased and the unit of the rolls is decreased. |
