PURPOSE:To obtain a silver halide photosensitive material having superior spectral absorption characteristics and a dye perfectly removable by development processing, and no staining due to remaining dyes, by adding a specified azamerocyanine dye to a colored hydrophilic colloidal layer. CONSTITUTION:An azamerocyanine dye represented by formulaIor II is contained as a light absorption dye in a colored hydrophilic colloidal layer, and used for a filter, antihalation, and prevention of irradiation. This dye has superior removability, and a photosensitive material free from staining due to remaining dyes can be obtained. In formulaI, R1 is an electron attractive group having <=0.1 Hammett's sigmarho value; R2 is H, alkyl, or aryl; R3 is alkyl or aryl; and Z is a nonmetallic atomic group necessary to form a heterocyclic ring low in basicity, and at least one sulfo group is contained in the molecular structure of formulaI, and in formula II, Y is -OQ1 or -N(O2, Q3); Q1-Q3 are H, alkyl, heterocyclic, or Q2 and Q3 may combine with each other together with N to form a 5- or 6-membred ring; and R2, R3 and Z is same as in formulaI. |
