Detector system for safe door position - has tamper-proof microswitch on door jamb, operated by telescopic tube linked to door, and vibration detector

Microswitches are often fitted to the doors of safes connected to alarm systems or to central security control displays. The present switch holder and actuating system is proof against simple interference, such as jamming with chewing gum or plastics tape, as well as being resistant to more violent sabotage. The present mechanism has two boxes containing swivel bearings, one (6) mounted on the door jamb (3), and one (17) mounted on the door itself. The rotating pillars in each box are linked by sections of telescopic tube (13,14). The pillar in the box (6) on the jamb operates a microswitch in another sealed box to show whether the door is open or closed. The other pillar is linked to a vibration detector circuit in another box on the door. The boxes containing the bearings are located by pins (24) fitting into blind holes on the door and jamb.
