<p>NEW MATERIAL:An antibiotic substance 80-258. Elementary analysis (%) C, 53.58%; H, 6.70%. Melting point: 220 deg.C (carbonization). Specific rotatory power: +226 deg. (C=0.5, methanol). Ultraviolet absorption spectrum: Shown in Fig. 1. Infrared absorption spectrum: Shown in Fig. 2. Solubility: Insoluble in water, hexane and petroleum ehter and soluble in methanol, ethanol, dichloromethane, chloroform, etc. Color reactions: Negative to the ninhydrin reaction, biuret reaction, anthrone sulfuric acid reaction and Fehling reaction. Distinction of basic, acidic and neutral: Acidic substance. Color and shape of the substance: Yellowish green powder. USE:Remedy for the Ehrlich and Sarcoma 180 tumors. PROCESS:Streptomyces No.80-258 (FERM-P No.6357) belonging to the genus Streptomyces is cultivated to accumulate antibiotic substances 80-258A, 80-258B and 80-258C, which are then collected as a simple antibiotic substance or a mixture thereof.</p> |
