PURPOSE:To obtain a prism device and a prism positioning method where an optical beam is refracted at right angles correctly and the positional slippage is eliminated, by constituting the device with a rectangular prism and an optical system whose optical axis coincides with the exit optical axis. CONSTITUTION:An exit face 4c of a rectangular prism 4 is put on a fixed face 3a formed in a case, and one side face 4b of the rectangular prism 4 is brought into contact with a wall face 3b, which is formed vertically to the fixed face 3a, with a high precision. Thus, the rectangular prism 4 is positioned in two, X and Z-axis direction. Next, a jig 9 having a projecting part 9a in the upper part is inserted from a hole 6b under a through hole 6 into the through hole 6, which is fomed in the fixed face 3a, with a high precision, and the projecting part 9a is protruded from the aperture part of the through hole 6. A reference face 9b parallel with the axis of the jig 9 for positioning the rectangular prism 4 is formed on the projecting part 9a, and an incidence face 4a of the rectangular prism 4 is brought into contact with this reference face 9b with a high precision. Thus, the rectangular prism 4 is positioned in the X-axis direction. |
