INTERLINE TRANSFER CHARGE COUPLED ELEMENT

PURPOSE:To exhaust charges of a vertical transfer unit channel and a photoreceptor photodiode array adjacent at both sides by aligning overflow drains of adjacent element units at the transfer channel of a vertical transfer unit without providing a channel stopper. CONSTITUTION:In order to transfer a signal charge of vertical direction, two different voltage levels VIL and VIH at middle level of two voltages VL, VH are applied as transfer voltage and a transfer is performed. It is adjusted that the height of a voltage barrier between the photodiode array 1 and the buried channel 3-2 is higher than that between the array 1 and adjacent overflow array 2. Unnecessary charge is simultaneously and totally exhausted to the adjacent drains 2 by applying the voltage VL to the vertical transfer electrode 3-1 from the channel 3-2 of the vertical transfer unit 3 by the overflow control gate 4 from the photodiode array 1.
